Isla Vela – Caribbean Saltwater Fishing in Fishing Friends 3D

Isla Vela is the saltwater fishing location in Fishing Friends 3D, set on a sun-soaked Caribbean island. It features 7 distinct saltwater fishing spots, including Readymoney Cove and the shark-infested open waters of Sabre Point.

Isla Vela introduces 27 new fish species to the game, including Mackerel, Giant Mako Shark, Swordfish, and the legendary Blue Marlin — making it the deepest sea fishing challenge in Fishing Friends 3D.

The Isla Vela update also adds a full story mode: players join Julie's sport fishing channel, investigate Captain Fenn's pirate treasure, and earn the trust of Alfie, the local deep-sea skipper.

3D Fishing Simulator – Mechanics & Gameplay in Fishing Friends 3D

Fishing Friends 3D features a physics-based casting and reeling system with real-time fish behaviour, lifelike water rendering, and 3D open-world environments across two distinct locations (more to comes soon!)

The game includes over 30 freshwater and saltwater fish species. Freshwater species at Pine Creek include Bass, Perch, Crappie, Walleye, Rainbow Trout, Muskie, and more. Saltwater species at Isla Vela include Mackerel, Giant Mako Shark, Swordfish, Bluefin tuna, Sailfish, Snappers, Mahi-Mahi, Tarpon, and the legendary Blue Marlin.

Timed challenge events task players with catching specific species within a set time limit. Completing challenges earns Gold, the in-game currency used to upgrade rods, reels, and tackle.

Online Multiplayer Fishing – Clubs & Tournaments in Fishing Friends 3D

Fishing Friends 3D supports online multiplayer fishing across mobile and browser. Players create or join Fishing Clubs — in-game guilds that compete against rival clubs in 3-day PVP tournaments tracked on a global leaderboard.

Four multiplayer modes are available:

• Fishing Club Tournaments – Clubs compete over 3 days, with combined catch scores determining the winner on the global leaderboard.
• King-of-the-Spot – Players compete in real time for control of the best fishing locations. Holding a prime spot earns bonus points; rival players can challenge and displace you at any time.
• Speed Contests – Timed events where players race to catch the most fish within a short time limit.
• Solo & Offline – All locations and fish species are available without an internet connection for solo play.

Fishing RPG Progression – Gear Upgrades & Customization in Fishing Friends 3D

Fishing Friends 3D features a gear progression system where every catch earns experience used to upgrade rods, reels, and tackle. Each piece of equipment has four tuneable stats: Cast Distance, Reel Speed, Accuracy, and Power.

The Booster System adds a skill layer to reeling: players charge their reel-in booster during a catch to increase pull strength against larger or legendary fish.

Fishing Locations in Fishing Friends 3D

Fishing Friends 3D currently features two playable locations:

• Pine Creek (freshwater) – A Rocky Mountain lake system home to Bass, Crappie, Walleye, Muskie, Rainbow Trout, and Carp.
• Isla Vela (saltwater) – A Caribbean island with 7 saltwater fishing spots including Readymoney Cove and Sabre Point, home to 27 sea fish species including Mackerel, Giant Mako Shark, and the legendary Blue Marlin.

Both locations contain Legendary Fish — rare species including the Shadowfin that require specific conditions to catch.

Story Mode & Adventure Quests in Fishing Friends 3D

Fishing Friends 3D includes a story mode following Zac, Molly, and a cast of characters across both fishing locations. Story content includes:

• Molly's Fish Restaurant – A daily supply quest where players catch specific fish to fulfil the restaurant's Catch of the Day menu.
• Captain Fenn's Pirate Treasure – A mystery quest at Isla Vela built around the legend of a pirate's hidden treasure.
• Julie's Sport Fishing Channel – A quest line where players build a sport fishing reputation at Isla Vela.

How to catch fish

Bait your hooks, cast the line, wait for the bite, strike and the fight begins.

Keep the tension within the boost area to charge the reel-in boost. When the boost bar is fully charged it triggers the boost phase that reels in the fish at high speed for a few seconds.

When the reel-booster is active, the fish loses a lot of stamina, which makes it easier to reel in. With every triggered boost, the critical stamina loss increases. Once a fish has lost all its stamina it is exhausted and will be reeled in automatically.

Keep an eye on your rod's and line's durability when reeling in a fish! If the fish weighs more than the maximum weight rating of your fishing rod or line it loses durability quickly. Keep the tension out of the red zone to protect your gear.

How to customise fishing rods

With every fish you catch you earn Rod Skill Points. Once you collected enough Rod Skill Points you can level up your fishing rod. Most fishing rods have 20 upgrade levels. On each level you can choose one of three attributes to improve. So if you own two versions of the same fishing rod, you can customise them in different ways.

Here are the attributes you can improve on your fishing rod:

Maximum weight

The higher the weight rating, the less damage the rod takes when reeling in a big fish.

Cast distance

Bigger fish often swim far from shore. Extending cast distance lets you reach distant fishing grounds and hook giant fish.

Reel speed

Increases the performance of the fishing reel. Reeling fish in faster can give you the edge in King-of-the-Spot and Speed Fishing competitions.

Casting speed

Casting over long distances can take precious time, especially if your target fish is fast moving. Increasing the casting speed helps to cast the bait just in front of your next giant catch.

Casting accuracy

When casting your bait can hit the water anywhere within the green circle around the casting target. The greater the casting distance the bigger the radius and hence the lower the casting accuracy.

Choose this attribute if you more accurate casting. This is especially helpful if you target a shoal of fish.

Control

The reel booster charges while you keep the tension within the boost range of the tension meter. Levelling up Control speeds up the boost charging.

It also gives you more control of the fish during reel-in: a hooked fish will swim in different directions during the fight. More control means that you can force the fish to swim more sideways, which reduces tensions and increases reel-speed.

Power

More Power results in a longer and faster Reel Booster Phase! It also reduces the sprint speed of the fish during reel-in.
